Post subject: | You ruined my season |
Thanks to all the helpful tips on this site my season is over about 45 minutes into it. Now I have to open up time for the honey do list. Special thanks to past tips from Freddy, Diable and GN Thanks I actually almost ruined the hunt when the incomming gobbler stopped gobbling and the woods went quiet. I haven't read that that can mean the bird is strutting just out of eye sight and does not necessesarily mean that he saw you and skeedaddled as I thought. My first Spring Gobbler and my first Merriam. No one else to share it with out here. Turkey hunting is not as big a deal here like trout fishing and elk. Took me three years of application to draw this area, so I guess I have three years to scout and find another one Sorry about the Pic quality...timer shots are a bummer BTW, the river in the valley is the famed Frying Pan. |

I've got to agree with 'ol Three Toes, best turkey picture on the site this year. Congrats on a fine bird. Can't tell you how many times I've killed a bird because of something I've learned on this site. |

Steve ~ From one Western turkey hunter to another CONGRATS ! Those Merriams are really beautiful birds aren't they ? I know how you feel about turkey hunting out here... I actually hear long-time local folks here in Montana complain about having TOO MANY turkeys where they live and are angry with Fish Wildlife & Parks for establishing them here ... WHAT? You can never have too many turkeys. Anyway, Congrats again on that great bird and thanks for sharin those beautiful pics. |
