Tenn makes serious date and limit changes for 2023
As predicted for for some months
-overview: -season April 15-May 28( about two weeks later than usual) -two birds, but only one Jake ( down from three birds this past year and four birds for decade prior) -no reaping on WMA -only one bird in certain WMA in parts of middle TN ( hello The Hunting Public)
Some say this season structure was set by the commission and was not the season limits and structure proposed by the agency biologists

GN, I hope the changes help the population but I have my sincere doubts. Sounds like there was a clamor to do something and the politicians always elect to change things that they can easily change regardless if there is any scientific reason to believe it will address the problem or not.

Well, I guess the great experiment has begun. A couple years will say whether it makes a difference or not. Curious if it does. Still a question to me whether it does. V

I hope it helps.. it kinda sucks personally as I enjoyed going to TN the first week of April, but if it helps I will gladly do my part as well.
Guess I will look into some other states that open early now..

Cut limits on gobblers ( little/no effect on recruitment) and keep hunting six weeks into late May? Biology majors they were not. Backing up start date was a good move I think. I have always thought Va was spot on in this regard.

Seems Spring opener has always been on the second Saturday in April for as long as I can remember. I thought VA did it out of tradition. Kinda like opening for deer rifle was always third Monday in November (until a few years ago)
