Curiously, I have yet to see any poults in Tenn this summer and I am around turkey country quite a bit..I have seen mature gobblers on the interstate, but while working bird dogs , driving to fish in the country , etc I am just not seeng the young birds, nor am I seeing their footprints in creeks or wet roads where I am seeing adult- turkey- tracks(while I have the dogs on a run)..I sure HOPE they are out there somewhere?

GN I have seen several poults and have also seen a flock of 5 poultless hens and a flock of 4. As for tracks in wet road, I havn't seen a wet road in so long I have forgotten what they look like.

Shopson I am glad to hear your report...you are closer to the epi-center of turkeydom up there where you live so you are seeing the ones that count.

The property i hunt in Grainger County is loaded. I cannot go in the woods without seeing hens with poults.

I have seen tons of poults in middle and west tn this last few weeks especially. I saw 3 hens with 17 poults at the end of my street monday of this week.

Last weekend in west tn I saw 4 hens with 21 poults.

Well, forget everything I said on Tenn 's absence of poults. Saw them everywhere this weekend, three different little groups on Tenn yesterday afternoon. Even more impressive was what I saw in easteren Kentucky between Mt Sterling and Hazard....I saw turkeys everywhere . Had one flock fly across in front of the windshield(15 birds) which was two hens and the rest poults. Gobblers standing in fields and other little groups that were not countable just scattered all theought the drive. Impressive.
