I'm a little concerned about the poult sightings that were reported on the other thread. Is anybody out there seeing any of the little guys? I saw them pretty regularly for a while and get an occasion glimpse of them now and then in different areas. Saw a hen with 2 large poults last week. If the cold snap we had in May didn't damage some nests the weather we are having now is perfect for poult raising... dry. They should be everywhere! What are you guys seeing?

Sorry to report, but I haven't seen the first poult here in northern Tazewell county. Hay cutting started this week, so maybe that will change. I did see 6 or 7 birds yesterday in a field on property adjacent to mine. I couldn't tell the gender, and the grass was too tall to tell if they had any poults. The nest I mentioned finding in an earlier post shows no sign of a successful hatch. Also of note, I did see a large coyote this morning. He crossed in front of me on I-81 at about 9:00 AM just east of the Ironto rest area. He stopped in the median and I got a real good look at him.

A hen with 10 poults has been hanging around my house in Roanoke County for the last couple of weeks. The first sighting was June 11th. Actually there are 2 hens together, but all the poults belong to one hen. I moved a Camtracker camera just inside the woods next to my yard a few days ago. Hopefully I will get a few pictures of momma and poults. I have seen a few other hens in the area and none had any poults.

I have not seen many here, but have not been out much either. GN I have a winner for you in Tenn, but he will need to post his own results to win. This dry weather should help the poults, but I certainly hope we get some soon. My fod plots are looking bleak without the rain. PS Knight I would have thrown more than dirt at that rascal. You should have sprayed some BTD at him, that would have scared him off for good...LOL

Nothing up here in Northern VA. I was at a buddies farm in Orange Co. VA 2 weeks ago and we flushed a hen down by the creek. Unfortunately, she was by herself and didn't have any poults w/ her.

Saw a hen with poults on June 19. Only saw 2 poults but the grass was tall. June 24 saw 5 hens and 22 poults within 5 minutes drive of my house. No pictures or proof, just my word.

By the way, these were in Tennessee. First ones were in Cocke County and the flock was in Greene County.

I finally saw some poults. Two hens had 5 or 6 poults out in the neighbor's field this morning. They were very small. I got a shot of a hen with no poults on the cam-tracker last week.
