In case you havn't heard, MTV has bought TNN. After the 2002 season no hunting shows or fishing shows will be shown on the TNN network. For all of us with cable or the Dish Network this means NO hunting shows. I just e-mailed TNN to let them know that come 2003 I will no longer watch ANYTHING on their station. What is this world coming to?

Where did you here this from? Not trying to bust your chops, but I thought that VIACOM has owned MTV and TNN for some time now.

If this is true I'm pissed too. I look forward to watching TNN every Sunday night to catch all the hunting shows starting each July. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they took MTV off completely. Not worth watching anyway. Just my 2 cents. TScott could you give the e-mail address to send comments to TNN?

here's the link hope it works.....

http://www.thenewtnn.com/mail_form.jhtml

if not just go to http://www.thenewtnn.com and on the left side of the screen you will see a place to click to e-mail them. I heard this information from Dave Watson on his forum board. He's the host of Bushnell's Secrets of the Hunt which is aired on TNN. He's trying to start a campaign against the Dish Network since they wont' carry The Outdoor Channel. I wrote them and TNN an e-mail. Just makes me sick that these companies are doing this!!!!

Hey if you have a dish network system you can get the outdoor channel for I think a doller a month added to your regular programming. They rock when it comes to hunting shows.

oops sorry... should have said Direct T.V. always getting the two mixed up :) i should really quit typing after 3:00a.m. :) here's a quote from Dave Watson about Direct T.V.

"I just got a letter from Direct TV stating that they will NOT be adding THE OUTDOOR CHANNEL to their network because they felt that the TV viewer does not want HUNTING. We lose again!

Here's a chance for the hunter to be heard. You want hunting on TV? Tell it to Direct TV NOW or sit there and watch Lassie re-runs this summer.

Take a moment and help all of us. There's a link on http://www.outdoorchannel.com Click on "What? You don't get The Outdoor Channel??" Fill out the form and tell them you DO want The Outdoor Channel on Direct TV.

Please...spread this around the internet. Feel free to copy & paste.
We are running out of networks who will even air a hunt.

Thanks,

Dave"

actually direct tv wont' carry it because they don't want to.. here's a quote from the outdoor channel in regards to this....

"The Outdoor Channel is not available on DirecTV. They have admitted there is demand for our traditional outdoor programming, but they are still not interested in carrying our network. To get DirecTV to respond The Outdoor Channel will require as many requests as possible from interested DirecTV customers. The Outdoor Channel is however, available on DISH Network - the fastest growing and most technologically advanced digital satellite system available today. It will make a bigger impact if you tell DirectTV that you are considering a switch to DISH Network unless they add The Outdoor Channel.

o.k. now i'm beating a dead horse but i've been doing some reading tonight. just want you guys & gals to be aware of what's going on... don't know how many of you actually watch hunting shows on t.v. i watch a couple of my faroites, i.e.. turkey call, mossy oak, bsoh...

EchoStar Communications Corporation is the parent company of Dish Network. EchoStar and DirecTV's merger is now pending. You can read about it at the Dish Network Website.

www.echostarmerger.com/5030
the problem is no one knows what will happen if the merger goes through. Assuming the merger goes through, the newly formed company could start carrying The Outdoor Channel or they could actually drop it! Since DirecTV is actually the larger of the two companies.

TScott, I have a coupon for the dish network and they give you a free dish and installation all you have to do is sign up for a package some thing like 40.95 I think this was a $1 more than our old directv bill and we get about 45 more channels. Shot me a address and I will get one out to you I think I have two so if any one else needs one give me your addresses(first come first serve). :)

Funny thing...I have DISH and do subscribe to the Outdoor Channel for $1.99/mo extra but on my Dad's cable system up in Pennsylvania, they get the outdoor channel for free. Not sure how that works out but I think at about $24/yr it is worth it. They could take MTV, MTV-1, MTV-2, etc etc off the air and I would never notice.
