I know this has nothing to do with Turkey Hunting, but you guys seem to be into the outdoors in general. I'm looking for a decent used canoe. Would love to have an Old Town or Mad River, but will settle for most any make if the price is right and the condition is acceptable. I live in Roanoke, but don't mind driving an hour or so for the right buy. Keep your eyes open and drop me an email if anybody sees a good deal. Thanks. |

One of the guys at work picked some Old Towns up for the College at a real good price. They were used but in great condition. He recentley moved to Lynchburg but i'll try and contact him to see where it was he got the canoes.

Thanks Scott for checking for me. Awards Committee, thanks too, but Knoxville is quite a haul from Roanoke. If I can't find anything more local, I may get back with you and those great choices. I knew you guys would have the low down. |

I spoke with Patrick tonight and he told me the two places that the college get's thier used old town's from. One is Wilderness Adventures who does trips in Criag and Botetourt counties. The man in charge get's new canoes every year at a pretty good cost and sells some used ones at the end of the season. He mostly sells to other outfitters and or groups but it's always worth a shot to ask. Patrick said you would have to call him about this time frame and ask if he would have any come the end of the season. Patrick didnt' have his phone number though. Another place we have gotten them is from Shenandoah River Outfitters. You might want to ask them the same thing... they also get rid of canoes at the end of the season. Scott |

Thanks Scott a million for following up on this for me. I'll try to see if I can get a call in to both these guys. I've heard of the Shenandoah River outfit, but not of the Wilderness Adventure outfit. When I find the right deal, we'll have to go for a spin. Always wanted to try a duck hunt from a canoe on the James or New. |

Anonymous...I bought the canoe that you put me onto. A nice used Sears fiberglass canoe, 600 lb capacity 15 footer. Appears to be in good shape at a good price. Thanks to everyone on the board who made my first canoe purchase a reality. Anyone interested in some smallmouth fishing...drop me an email.... |
