What was your favorite part of this season? For me it is easy. I have a friend that goes on one turkey trip a year with me. He always gets a bird, but has never killed one in his home state. Truth is he only gets to hunt a few days a year, and has very little decent hunting land. So I got a chance to take him and assist in him getting his first home state longbeard. I was as excited as I have ever been. What about ya'll?

Tough one for me Ryan...I sort of plan my year around some out of state hunts and tryingto hunt at least five places at home. This year I managed to take(or assist a friend take) a bird out of all the local places, plus some great out of state hunts as well. I think back on the season, and a few specatular events come to mind: setting up at dayilight in a Florida swamp edge and taking a bird with 1.5 inch spurs right of the roost at daylight; Freddy's Tenn bird drumming on the limb constantly for an hour before daylight, and then having 8 birds gobble all around that field where we thought there was one; watching 145 birds i n the trees around me at daylight in Texas and then having all of them fly down all around me; calling in jake after jake in Texas and watching all the full show from the young birds; taking a 60 yr old friend for his first bird and getting the whole full strut- gobble show at 35 yds; hunting with a friend to double team a 25 lb bird with 1.62 spurs in Tenn; taking another friend for a field bird in the rain at the end of the year; making the best tactical move ever on a mountain top bird in Tenn by marching pretty much straight at him (out of sight); watching a brood of young day -old wood ducks try to find the way to the pond with a wing flapping momma leading them; finding the yellow lady slippers right where they are supposed to be; and getting a special call from a young lady who was prety thrilled with her bird on the last day of the Va season.

I cant narrow it down to one time, but overall the folks over in Tenn that were so nice to me on my hunt, you know who you are. Also the friends that I hunted with this year. I was able to take a few youngsters and that was awesome. Called one in but he could not sit still and the bird spooked. The best memory was scouting, one moring my wife was out of town and I took my two year old daughter, the birds started gobbling and they were close and she started hollering turkey, turkey. It was quite a laugh as I ran the other way trying not to spook the birds.

Calling for others........spending time with God........interacting with the folks here.....calling older friends who can no longer go & spending time telling them the stories of each days hunt so they to can in some way still be there.......just feeling alive!

Calling in my 9-year old's first gobbler (19 lbs), and watching over his shoulder as he made all the right moves...the "you are my hero" hugs after the hunt...the thanksgiving prayer we shared over that majestic creature and that magical moment in time.

Well fellas, I didn't really live up to my user name this season! On the other hand, I had an AWESOME time with PG. We hunted together no less than half a dozen times this spring, and even though I have no turkeys to show for it, I have some great memories and laughs that I'll never forget. That's what made the season for me...

Just being out there to enjoy all that God has created. Getting out before first light and watching the woods come alive. These have always been my favorites.

Well i hope i don't upset anyone but. The best part of my spring 2002 season was when i was walking down a loging road that leads back to my truck and seeing my buddys truck parked at the entrance of the road and seeing the look of discust on his face when he realized i bagged my second Longbeard of the season!!!

Needless to say he hasen't called me since the season ended...
