Yesterday I went to pay my final respects to a friend that was part of my experiences in the hunting world for many years. About 6 yrs ago a stroke took him out of the woods & Friday nite God called him home. As I drove to his home to be with his family I thought of this spring season as well as most of the others I have had both spring & fall, deer, turkey & small game. Time waits for no man. we are here but for a short time. Things we place importance on the most in life are sometimes the very things that should be least on the list.In this fast paced world W.E. was one of the dozen or so men who lead me by example to understand its the simple things in life that are important. God & family were always the most important thing to him & it showed. What I learned from him was not only about hunting It was mostly about how one should live & to milk each day for all u can get from it. I have been blessed with family & freinds like you folks here. I have been blessed by God many countless times I have carried my carcass into the woods, both with meat on the table & a hunt to tell others of,but mostly the experience & closeness to God. I realized again last night that any time a man(or lady Amy)can go out & leave the rush behind they are blessed... A sunrise viewed 2 miles from no where is the most blessed thing I have ever saw.....STOP!!...........U think on what u have been blessed with!.... Live for today....Take that young one fishing or hunting.....call ur parents if u can & tell them ya love them........hug your wife.....Do all this while you can.....Cause tomorrow may never be what we think it will.....God Bless each of you & I hope to see ya at the cookout!

Amen Max! Sorry to hear about your friend. I thanked God every time I got to go into the woods this year and even though I never fired a shot this spring I know I was blessed. I got to witness God's work through the sunrises, wilderness, animals, friends & family and my loving wife all through the season. I start back to work tonight after two weeks off and feel like a new man. Thanks to G.N., Freddy and the rest of you guys & gals for another great season and for the all the advice, thanks to ya'll I now I have a journal where I can go back and reflect on all my encounters this spring and relieve all those wonderful memories.

Max,
I am very sorry to hear about your friends passing. You're words are words to live by! Don't get caught up in a bitter life and like you say stop, and take a deep breath and realize how blessed you are for that breath. Make time for the so called small things and you will understand they are what life is all about. Life is short but is impressionable on others. You do make a dent in this world so use it wisely!

I would rather see a sermon than to hear one any day. It sounds like your friend lived his religion. I wish more were that way. Sorry for your loss, but we know he is in a far better place, and we can rejoice that we will see him again one day.
