Well I went behind Dad's this am after the big boy I have chased off & on all season...Setup deaks in a feed patch below ridge where he roosts (tried him from above 4 times).....I called very light & sparingly a few times over a 30min period....waited another 30min...No birds show in the patch.....I pull setup & head thru the pines heading for the next field which is another strut zone.....about 3/4 way thru the pines I heard GOBBLE in the lower field....I think GRRRRRRRRRR he got by me & didnt tell me where he was going...HOW RUDE of him!......I ease up to a tree..setup.... a few light calls (the sweet stuff.....45 min later no bird!..... I tell myself....well I am not hunting here anymore this year. might as well slip down to the field.....cautiuosly I tippy toe thur the pines..until I can see the field edge 50yd out.....there he is pacing the one strand of barbed wired left from the old fence which he could easly walk under......He gos out of sight over a small rise in the field (or so I thought)......I try to ease in to about forty yd of the fence row......two tippy toes later & FLUSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!......Oh well ....I pray..thanking god for a great year....then hoof it to the truck.....Thinking tomorrow I am going with Nephew to his fav spot.... & how lucky I am to have chased the bearded bird another year in the very same woods I learned to hunt in as a child......God Bless each of you my freinds & THANKSSSS!!! for sharing my season with me!!
