Well I've been soooo busy chasing turkeys and house work I havn't had time to get on here.....

This morning my nemesis the "Craig Gobbler" was letting go with a gobble every now and then. I spent over an hour trying to get into a half decent setup so that I could yet again get a chance with this bird. Well I finally got into the only position that would work and gave him a couple of calls... G-O-B-B-L-E-- G-O-B-B-L-E !!!!!!!!! here he comes.... i'm so nervous i can't stand it! He stops about thirty yards away still offering no shot... all of a sudden he's running straight at me at full speed and goes past in a blurr of feathers... i'm sitting there with a dumb look on my face for the life of me trying to figure out what went wrong. Coyote? Bobcat? Fox? Hunter? I didn't have a clue... just knew that when ever I spook turkeys they always run AWAY from me so I knew at least I didn't screw it up. Well after several minutes I go to the top of the ridge to look around and see if I can find any "yelp marks" or coyote tracks... Well it was a hunter... he asked if that was a gobbler gobbling or me :( grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr two days left and for some reason the Turkey Gods are not happy with me.

Should have told him "NO! IT WAS A BLOOMIN' BLUE JAY!!!". Hate to hear about that. Hang in there, at least you worked and saw him. What that guy said sorta reminds me of those old SHUT UP comics in the back of Mad Magazine! Lick your wounds and hold yer head high!

HUnter interference both ways is a act of life in a public area.I think sometimes we forget it could just as easily be us walking up on another guy's hunt...I have walked in to other poeple in the woods myself and I probably have called to another hunter without realizing what I was doing at the time. Just be careful . I feel fortunate atthe nd of every season that I did not shoot anybody and nobody shot me.
