Well folks, I'm hangin' the 500 up for the year after this morning. Went in the woods and nothing at daylight except one gobble a few ridges over. I've been working a bird or he's been working me for over a week and a half. I just sat up where the logging bends near a field and waited. I've seen or heard him there a few times. Around 7 a.m. I see him moseying along down the logging road in the opposite direction!! As soon as he rounds a bend I'm up and heading him off. As SOON as I sit down he walks around me at 20 yards and I thank the Lord for his wonderful creatures and a wonderful season. After the gun roar nice two year old. Around 18-19 lbs. with 9 1/2 beard and 3/4 hooks. It's been a great season, My son and me got a jake, and killed a couple to be proud of. Thanks for the tips and Atta boy's ya'll give. Truly wonderful site. Hate to say it but glad it's over! Lost close to 10 lbs this year. Plus I'll be up at 4 everyday for two weeks. Oh well no pain no gain. HeeHee |
