Author Message knight_va Posted on Wednesday, May 08, 2002 - 4:01 pm:    Took a freind out before work this am..... heard 4....struck a hot bird at 7:20am.... 3 calls more & it was over...partners 870 boomed for the second time this year...17lb...10" beard....1 1/8 spurs. was at the check station by 8am..GOD SMILED AGAIN !!!...........This bird was the hottest I have found in 2 weeks.. He was alone & fired up.......could it be ..that things are going to pick back up a bit?.....Freddy,GN what do ya'll think? Things might be loosening up a bit, at least from what I can tell. The "lull" has been getting shorter and shorter over the last week. I am still hearing a lot of hens yapping back at me however. I think VA is on its way to setting another Spring record in a major way. A good last week will seal the deal. Have you decided what you want to have engraved on your first place trophy? I have not been in the woods for ten days so I do not know what the birds are doing, but Iwould think one that gobbles now is a highly likely candidate to ride home off the ridge on somebody 's back.
