Went out Sat. morning, did not here a sound not even a peep. I have heard several birds all season its like they just left. No hunting presure or other people that I know of. Does the weather mess them up with all the storm last week would it make them quite like that? Hope to go Fri. morning to see if they will start back up, I thought they would be in there second peek of gobbling.

first clear, calm(non-foggy) am after the rainy spell is a dynamite gobbling day I think..like the one here this am in east Tenn.

T576. I was out last Thursday and Saturday as well and didn't hear a peep either. Both days were cold, windy and the rain set in on Sat. I think GN is right, with all the rain we're having, if you can get out on a morning where it's warm, clear and calm I think you'll hear em'. This morning looks like a good one. Unfortunately I have to work and can't go again till Saturday. Bummer.

Clear and slightly breezy Saturday in Augusta County. Strutstopper and I heard a gobbler light up at exactly 7 am and he gobbled repeatedly for 10 minutes over 30 times. Unfortunately for us, we went on the south ridge top and he was on the north one where we usually go. Heading out tomorrow let's hope he does it again.

Ok, well made the 2+ hour drive this morning to Augusta County with Strutstopper. Got in the woods early and vowed not to make a peep until after 7, since that is when the gobbler lit up on Saturday. Were right in the area he rocked the woods on Saturday. Sure enough, at 7 am, the woods came alive, but not with gobbles but with an excited hen about 50 yards away. We didn't see her but she woke up cuttin up a storm. She didn't fair any better than we did when we called. She either had the gobbler with her and was mad at some other hen, or she was trying to locate her boyfriend. Tried to instigate a fight with her but she wouldnt have it. She eventually stopped cutting and went the other way. Strutstopper did have 2 deer pass within 15 yards and never sensed him. Another 2 hours and we were back home by 1pm. Hope the predictions about it getting better are right, so far the season has been a bust for us. Worst in years.
