First of all let congratulate all the successful Va. turkey hunters and the ones that will soon be successful.
Well our season has all but came to a close, the last day is Tuesday the 7th. I'm going to give it one last try in the morning 6th. So far I've had a great season. I've called in 7 hens 4 jakes 6 long beards. Of the long beards, my son took one and I also took one. My son managed to call one in later, which made him two. The best hunt was when I had two long beards, one 30yds on my right and one 40yds on my left and one little hen 10yds in front of me. I thought she would ease on but she wanted to take a closer look...at 5 feet and giving me the big eyeball you know what happened next. After the PUTT I named her "The Little Bitch". But it was one of my most exciting hunts. My bird... 21# 10 1/4"B 1"S My son's...18# 10"B 1"S....20# 9 1/2"B 1 1/4"S. Calling with an accent does pay off!

GS1946 I hope you tag another today. Good season so far, and I suspect that you have left a few for seed next year also. Hopefully I will be able to tag at least one more before our closing day. |
