Congrats on your first bird!!!

I've found the drumsticks to be tough. I've kept them over the years for the simple fact of keeping every part of the turkey, but now I toss them. About the only thing I've heard (never tried) to do with them is put them in a pressure cooker. They are full of tendons so that explains why they're tough.

As far as the thighs, I keep them. You have to pick through the tendon's when eating, but it's nothing like the drumstick. There is some good meat to be had on the thighs. I normally maranade them and wrap them in bacon and grill.

Take your favorite Chicken Soup receipe and sub the turkey for chicken. Boil the legs and Thighs to make the broth. After the turkey is done, pull the meat from the bone and chop the meat up for the soup. It will be tender.

Its a waste to throw them away. If you haven't done this, you are really missing a treat. I don't advocate throwing them away. It only takes a second to cut them out. and a hugh waste if you throw them away.

I threw them away for years but now I save them for turkey salad. I'll have to add my recipe for Waldorf Turkey Salad to the recipe topic.
