Woke up this morning expecting rain (don't beleive everything they tell you.) Well went to the pipeline which the turkeys like when it rains. Sat down and yelp and had a gobbler answer back on someone else's property. Well he and I went at it and he let me know exactly where he was about every three minutes or so. Then he shut up, and just like i figured he popped into view about 90 yards up the pipeline right when I thought he would. Saw my two decoys and strutted down to say hello to the ladies.( I was keeping my mouth shut) Waited about five minutes for him to turn his back to me so that I could move, brought my gun up. This is where it goes from great to bad, I pulled the trigger and missed the bird at 22 steps!! Looking back on it I made two errors not waiting for him to stick his head up and not shooting at his neck ( scope is sighted in there) good thing is it was a clean miss shot over his head. I was really upset with myself!!!!!! But I am glad that is was a clean miss. |
