here is my list: (1)after all the Danner boot promotions I have voluntarily given I hunted almost the entire year in a pair of 10 inch high LLBean bird hunting (gore-tex-uninsulated)) boots...highly reccomend them. (2)the Gerber lightweight shears (a Hody suggestion I think) were good..very lightweight. (3) I listened to Freddy use a Primos gobble tube and have made up my mind to learn that little thing...I would defy anyone/anyturkey to tell the difference between that and a real bird at 75 yards. (4)Gatorade FIERCE drinks...new personal favorite, by the case from Sam' Wholesale. (5)winchester supreme ammuntion impressed me, but I am convinced hevi-shot is the fututre of turkey hunting . On the negative side, I am falling out of favor with a pair of inflatable decoys that I think spooked birds at least once last year and then again in Texas this year where I watched a lot of birds reactions at very close range..they did not like them at all(I should say that I seldom (less than half the time)put out decoys, so I am a little skeptical of them to start with). There are more , but what are your likes, dislikes for stuff you just tried this year.

Gatorade energy bars. Quick, easy, and have made a difference in my stamina. Usually, my feet feel like they gain about 10 lbs a piece every hour I am out there. These seem to alleviate that.

1) agree with the Gerber shears, got them last year and I love them. 2) H.S. Strut seat with folding legs... didn't know I could be so comfortable in the turkey woods 3) another vote for the Primos tube call.... i really like that call and can't wait to get better at it ;) 4) Knight & Hale Wingbone yelper... still have a lot of learning to do with this call but am realling enjoying it and last 5) Avery Four panel blind... don't carry it with all the time but really like it in the fields and for predator hunting... lightweight, easy to carry and 12' long to hide me and a buddy

Well my #1 is my H.S. strut seat. It does not have collapseable legs but it is a life saver for long sits or short ones for that matter. The pruners are sometimes a must too. Still a fan of winchester HV #5's but willing to try Heavi-Shot.
I agree with GN and Scott on the Primos call and I definately need to get a few lessons with it. Maybe I just need to carry Freddy in my vest cause he sure can use that thing. Also I like my camo-skinz gloves and face mask, they are very lightweight and comfortable.

Well...1) I tried out a 9-year old hunting buddy and he passed with flying colors..proved to be a dead-eye with that H&R 20 gauge (I'll send Freddy a picture); 2) 9-inch Goretex, uninsulated Klondike mountain man boots by Red Wing. They are a bit heavier but lace down to the toes and the ankle support and bite are a must in mountainous terrain; 3) I tried the Sceery blow-up decoys too. I did have one bird spook in FLA but not sure if it was the decoy. I find that all you have to carry is the decoy and the small adapter...you don't need to carry the stakes. I just cut a small sappling off and set the decoy on it, or there's always a stick laying around that works fine. I like the decoys so far.; 4) Primos power crystal, a high-pitched call that really will make 'em holler mid-day when you cutt and yelp. Of course my MADD glass call will also.; Limbhanger (i think?) triple reed Primos mouth call (great for cackling and soft calling -- the reeds are thin).; 5) realtree advantage camo - which i don't like. It doesn't blend in with places I hunt very well...the leaves are too light colored. I'm going with the Lynch's superflage (pants) for next year.. man that looks like Appalachian forest floor; 6) if you wear glasses I absolutely have the solution for fogging up -- clean your lenses before each hunt with Colgate shaving cream and water...it works!; 7) I bout a really thick double-reed Quaker Boy (I think?) diaphram call to use as a crow call...sounds much better than the Primos crow call I have. I know it sounds good because I get flogged with crows everytime I use...curious what I'm actually saying to them?; 8) very fine steel wool will remove cammo tape residue from your shotgun...also takes the fine rust off if you hunt with an antique like me...hey...that's enough..

Well..1)Got alot of answers on a Knight&Hale Old Yeller slat call this year, they seem to like it better than the K&H Silver Queen i bought this year its a glass caller. Just couldn't seem to get any to answer it.2) I really liked the Feather Flex hen and jake decoys they seem to like them really well. Well thats all i got, hope everyone has fun this year. I know i still am.

Primos Power Crystal Model 227 with Purple Heart Striker. What really impressed me was the customer service when I had questions about the carbon striker. Thanks for turning me on to a great call and company Freddy!!!!

Addional thoughts...I switched (gulp) from the true triple primos call which I have used exclusively for more than 15 years to the true double ,which I can get higher pitcehed stuff from. I liketh stacked frames on both of these and have tried lots of other calls by al ot of manyufacturrues but I highly reccomend both these to any of you.

I have used a blind more this year after hunting with a friend a few times that uses them alot. Was actually able to turn around and shoot a turkey that came in behind us. Without the blind- not a chance... Amy also enjoys the blind as she feels more comfortable behind it. Haven't had a turkey notice it at all and had several 10-12 yards and not pay any attention to the blind or us...

Have used some new inflatable decoys this year but haven't seen enough results to determine anything yet. They seem a little slow to blow up and deflate. Like GN, I don't use them a lot...

I am using a new Bucklick Creek vest this spring and like it okay... I had to make a small modification to the seat to make it more comfortable but so far I like it...

One of the big things that I am really impressed with is my new Tru-Glo fiber optic sights for my 870 Supermagnum... You really know when your on your target, your head is down, and I love them...

That's about it for me...

I have had some luck with a blind also a ameristep jake house it pops up in about 1 second and it transports small. Also I used a lot of patients sit still and wait. This really works good..I have a new Silver queen call and have mixed reactions. I did make a call a try it out. I took a old box and put a piece of thin slate under the paddle. Makes exellent yelps and the birds seem to like it. Called in a nice one for a friend with it, but he never got a clear shot.

I like each of the Primos diaphrams I've tried this year; my new Cody slate (my oldest son's name is Cody) has brought a lot of response this spring; so has my Lynch's world champion box - broke my Lynch's foolproof last year; my new tick gaiters - I wouldn't go without them (don't remember the brand but they are in Mossy Oak Breakup); I agree with TP - I own a lot of camo and use different brands in different places/at various times of the year... Advantage is too light. I feel like a big white popsicle stick. Switched to Realtree Extra Brown.

For next season I'll be using the same 870 Wingmaster with a new "Second Skin" job I plan to have done right after this season is over.

Well I have a few new calls a Cody envy & a Primos power xtal...both are good ..the xtal...is the better of the 2.....Hevi shot in Nitro shells....folks....hevi shot is the future... No I dont take longer shots with it....but I know when the payload is lanuched that the shot will be there quicker..hit him harder & be more of them....nitrocompany.com has always made a great shell as far as I am concerned..but the hevi shot from them is the hardest hitting stuff with the best patterns I have ever used.....335ish pellets in a 12" circle @40yds...33 in head & neck.....21 in neck & head @50.......punching thur 1/2" plywood at 50yd......I limit myself to what I est. is 40yd shots but its nice to know I have enough gun if I misjudge.......Nitros are pricey....but not really considering how many I shoot a year.....Happy Hunting all!

TP,

I just wanted to reiterate your tip on using the shaving cream for glasses fogging up. I played softball last night and gave it a try since they're always fogging up. It worked great, I was shocked. I have tried for years to find something, and had been using an anti-fog spray from Visine, but it didn't work as good as the shaving cream.

Also, I got one of the seats, and other than calls and gun, it's the third thing on the list of "Don't Forget's".
