On my hunt this morning, the birds were gobbling good. I sat up about 75 yards away and just listened. At about 6:30 or so the woods went silent thats when I made my move. These birds have been in the same area for the last week I tried to set up above them but no luck, so I set up in a bottom below them. I made some soft hen talk and used a wing from another bird and made a fly down cackle and the boys just could not take it. Thet tore the woods up with gobbles, then I made another move I SHUT UP!!! They gobbled for 30 minutes getting closer and closer I was ready waiting. I heard some leaf sounds to my right and I slow turned to see a nice gobbler about 20 steps comming threw the woods, bad news is he was on the ohter side of me and I could not move.. I let him pass then another this time a jake. They moved on behind me and were gone. I sat there for about 30 more min. and I heard a faint hen yelp and the gobblers trailed off. I thought I should have called more but the gobbler at 20 steps shook me up a bit maybe another day. Hope everyone elses season is going good. I think the birds are moving into a second gobbling peak any thoughts on this.
