Hey Folks, If I didnt know any better I would say that the good LORD has "Raptured" all my Gobblers from the face of the earth !! Never known Gobbling to "Lull" this long. Have seen hens at all times during the day all by themselves for over a week now....... still no Gobbling. This is an area where I have heard 13 Gobblers during pre-season. Maybe one or two off the roost and thats it !! Just dont know !!??? Any way, after 50 miles or so of prospecting with know luck my buddy and I slipped up to a field to check things out later this morning...been seeing several Longbeards using this feild throuhgout the day. All we saw in the feild was a couple of hens. We watched them for about 45 min. or so as they dusted and just loafed around. My buddy brought up the question as to whether the Turkeys we have been hunting have become used to or shy of locater calls as we havent been getting much response from the birds. So I told him to slip down the trail a ways and blow his Crow call and I would watch the reaction of the hens thru my Bino`s that were about 200 yrds. away. These birds were very content and unalarmed...just hanging out. When he blowed his crow call, both birds went alert, raising their heads. After a short pause he blew it again and the Turkeys almost immediately turned and left the field at a faster than normal speed.(The whole 45 min. they were in the feild real crows were all around them and they never flinched) anyway...something to think about.

GOD Bless,
Chris

Chris, I been thinking the same thing.. so I have let the birds start on their own for several years now.. especially early in the morning.. later in the day I will hit the crow call once lightly hoping to get some real crows started...
