Hey everybody. Had a situation this mornin. Got in the woods early, well before daylight and had a gobbler goin good. Id estimate that he gobbled nearly 50 times in a span of 20 minutes while on the roost. Bird flew off roost and gobbled again. I called with some yelps and he cut me off, getting closer, then BOOM, another hunter had slipped between me and the bird without notice. I'm positive the hunter did no calling at all. This is the second time this has happened to me and it's one of the most frustrating things that's ever happened to me in the woods. After the shot, all the other birds around shut up and I had nothing else going the entire morning. Tough luck is sticking with me it looks like.

Was this on public land Mitch and if so where? Seems to happen more and more often with new hunters joining our ranks every year. Had a guy shoot one off the roost on us first day this year. Not illegal but he never uttered a peep to get his bird.

i hate when this happens... PG... i agree with you but would also like to add that there are plenty of "old" hunters who hunt like this also... had a long time turkey hunter cut me off one morning and shoot the bird i was working.

That is the pits...I have been there too.....Makes me MAD!!.....I just tell myself....If they needed the bird that bad then I guess they were starving & had hungry kids at home.....remember this... U killed the bird..not him!

Thanks Max. I was rather upset for a while after it happened, but I realized that, unfortunately, it was part of hunting, but the good thing is that I still have several chances to tag out. Come May 8th, I'll have 10 days to hunt non-stop and you better believe that I'll be out there.
