Author Message HODY Posted on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 - 10:14 am:    Well after hunting this bird(S) last Thur and Fri, I had a premonition last night to get up and go this am COLD and all. I was in the spot I needed to be in and at dawn NOTHING. So I pull out the owl hooter and I hear him gobble. I hit a few yelps and a flydown They fly down (4 birds) and 1 more gobble and that was it. I could hear them coming at me and the hen and a Jake about ran me over. The jake was so close (5 yds) he saw something he did not like and ran away, so I immediately cutt with my mouth call to distract the others. When I did this the 2 longbeards start coming toward me. Problem, my gun was pointed left they came to my right. I watch them come and they were at about 15 yds and the one started to periscope, that is when I thought I better swing around and take a quick shot. It worked. The boss (I think) fell. I think the other bird was actually the boss but this one had a much longer beard. 11 3/4 inch beard but spurs were only 1 inch. weight was 19.5 lbs.
