OK, if you entered the contest and harvested a bird, please post your bird here. Give the bird specs (Wt.,beard, spurs), and then give the numbers that we need in the correct form with the score(use the score system on the VA Turkey page). Feel free to post pics here too. Please indicate if this is your first bird ever or anything like that, and a brief description of the hunt. |

Hey folks... I think there may be some confusion about entering the scores. If you did not enter the contest by posting on the "CONTEST" thread that was closed on the day before turkey season then unfortunatley you aren't eligible. It was the only way we could be fair for all the participants. Sorry... PS If anyone else has any info on prizes give me an e-mail |

No entries for a week? Thought I'd better bump it up... Saturday, April 27, decided to switch locations and head to Franklin County and give Bedford County a rest. Went to a farm I hadn't been to since fall. Found my buddies ground blind he made back in the fall at daylight. Waited til I heard the first gobble at 6:40am. Clucked lightly on a Cody slate. Followed that up with yelps on a box call. I was nearly run over before I could put the box call down. I believe he was a subordinate 2 year old roosted nearby - much closer than the bird that was gobbling. He spotted something he didn't like at 8 yards... I said he ran, didn't I? He took off running and I nailed him as he prepared for take off. Had to run him down and finish him about 300 yds later. Time - 6:45am. 20 3/4 lbs. 9 3/4 inch beard 1 inch spurs Score: 60.25 Had a group of gobblers tease me at the same blind today at 12:00 noon. I'll be back. MTNBUK |
