The 835 sings

Author Message Turkey576 Posted on Saturday, April 20, 2002 - 3:21 pm:    This morning was not a typical day. I setup on a field edge where I have been seeing a bird strut. The birds gobbled as normal until about 6:25. I sat being patient....nothing around 7:30 I pulled out a boat paddle box because of its sound and range to try to pinpoint a bird as I have heard no gobbles for a hour or so. GOBBBLEEE...... WOW he was close, but behind me, so I slowly eased around the tree to my left. As I moved I caught a glimps of him moving to the field, I thought. GOOOOBBBLLLEEEE.... he was even closer. I looked straining to see him, there he is moving adjacent to the field to my left still. I waited till his head was hidden by trees and got ready. He strutted in all the way and stopped at about 30 yards or so and raised his periscope to look BOOM!!!!!! Thats all she wrote, the 835 sang is song. A nice two year old weight at 18# 11 1/4 Oz. a 10 inch beard and 7/8 inch spurs a good day. Thank the lord for a wonderful hunt and a nice bird. Hope all of you guys and gals are having a lot of luck. I have to take a gentleman hunting on fri and sat next week. He bought a two day hunt at our NWTF auction supplyed by me. Hopfully I can give him the same excitment. I have pictures on a floppy I will get Freddy to post them for all to see.
