Went out this morning and heard one gobble. That's it. Dont know what the situation was to cause this, but i hunted till nearly 9 before i had to leave to make it to class and heard one. I'm pretty sure he was on the roost as it was just after 6, and he only gobbled once. I was hunting near the Montgomery-Craig County line. Anyone else have any trouble hearing them up that way?

Mitch...on Rt 460 right at the top of Blacksburg mountain there is a forest service road to the left just as you crest the mountain heading west. Give that area a try. The forest service road runs along the ridge top. Good vantage point to hear some gobbling.

I've been hunting the forest in Craig County and have heard birds both times. Opening morning I believe it was 4-5 gobblers and then on Monday it was about the same.

Hunted the forest on Tuesday and heard one bird once on the roost. Going out tomorrow (Friday) to the forest (Rockingham County). Will keep you all posted.
