Hunted hard Saturday, a place I have been able to sneak up close on some good birds, and seen others. But Saturday was a bust. Not a cluck, a yelp or a gobble. I found scratchings made that day, but I was always ten steps behind them. Noon came around, I packed it up and went scouting a little, then drove off. I am going 35 mph down a narrow two-lane, in a blind downhill right-hander, during some hard rain, when a huge hen sprints out in front of me, crossing from a field on the left to woods on the right. I slammed on the brakes and managed to avoid her, tonly to be rear-ended, hard, by a full-size pickup. So no bird, damaged truck, sore body. I was still a good day! Under the category of silver linings, the elderly lady who was a passenger in the truck that hit me put me on to what sounds like a good spot. |

Good ending Cantcall! Sorry to hear about the accident though. Watch that neck, it is liable to get sore next few days. PG |
