Scott: I called a bobcat up once. I had called twice to a gobbler that was up the ridge about 150-200 yards, still in the tree. I looked to my right and spotted a bobcat crouched in the huckleberry bushes slowly putting the old low-crawl on me. The cat got to within less than 5 feet away... he was probably about ready to pounce. I waved my hands and hissed at him. He was gone in a flash. I continued to work the bird -- unsuccessfully. I could not hunt the next morning. I sent may dad back and he bagged the bird the next morning -- a nice 17 lb longbeard. I'd never heard of a bobcat actually pouncing a hunter, but it almost happened to me. |
