I'm amazed at the success I've read about on this chat board. Even you guys that had "bad days" were still working birds. I just moved back to the Northern Virginia area from overseas and was dying to Turkey hunt again. My problem was that I had no time for off-season scouting (therein lies my problem probably). I went to the most Northern tip of the George Washington National Forest the night before and spotted a hen. I went back into the forest at the same spot 1/2 hour before sunrise. Nothing all day...no gobbles even. Metter of fact, I've never had any luck in Northern VA. Do I need to go further South or am I just not doing enough pre-season scouting?? Help!! |
