Well, Me and my son went into the woods totaly blind. At daylight there is no gobbling on our land. A little disappointed. We walked around and nothing. Around 10:00am. My son starts to play with the gobble shaker and starts shaking it. After three or four times, two gobblers answer. We setup and later around 20 min. one of the gobblers come in without saying a word. I was able to get a shot at him. I shot and the gobbler falls, I get up and the next thing I know the gobbler in in the air. My son shoots at him and knocks a few feathers out as he glides away. but he gets away anyway. I hate that he got away but a good memory for us. I looked after he got away, right where he was standing was a sappling. It took almost all the shot. I feal bad because I hate to hit a bird and let him get away. But things like this are going to happen. Maybe next time. Coach |

Coach: I've killed a number of birds that were full of shot from a previous encounter. I think a lot (maybe most) birds that are able to get up and fly away actually survive. |
