DOUBLE TROUBLE THIS MORNING!!!

Author Message sixshot Posted on Saturday, April 13, 2002 - 5:09 pm:    Well we took the boys out this morning and set a bind up on the field edge. Set the decoys out 25 yrds. and waited for a gobble. A hen flew into the field at daylight followed by three jakes. The jakes saw the dekes and came within 60-70 yards and wouldn't come any closer. The hen went into the woods and the jakes kept gobbling at us but followed the hen. About thirty minutes later a longbeard strutted out of the woods with three hens. About the same time the jakes started gobbling. We threw some clucks and purrs at em' and they blew up!!! Took them about thirty minutes to work within 35 yards and then they got antsy. I layed the hammer down on the lead jake and Steve connected with the second. The echo of the gun hadn't even cleared and the boys were on em'. They were giving high fives, jumping up and down, and saying"my birds bigger!". HaHa My jake had a double beard. They wanted to carry the birds out(benefits of daddyhood). We got some real good pictures and I'll try to post them soon.
