I've read alot about hunting toms and how to set up on them but the perfect set up aint always so.There are just to many things woking against you. Take the sun.Pay attention to the next bird you call, See if he will come in with the sun in his face. The wind , ever here one gobble alot in a strond wind? Called one in last year,I was sitting on top of a ridge,100 yards above the bird, in a little flat, wide open beautiful hardwoods, behind me a gosh awful thicket mixed with mountain laurel. With the sun at my back facing the clear flat the bird cicled me and came in through the thicket, coming in this way he had the sun at his back, luckily I heard him coming behind me and got turned before he walked into a load of federal prem. #6's at 25 yards.Set up above another gobbler last year about 80 yds. abve the bird watching the tip of a small field where it met the timber, the sun was at my back, to come in this way he would have to walk into the sun, he went the other way gobbling til he finally went out of hearing, personally I firmly believe it is very hard and unusual to call a bird in with the sun in his face.Maybe this will help with your set up or maybe you dont have this problem but just take notice and see if it holds true for you.Good luck fella's and shootem in tha head!!

I agree about the sun 100%. Also I cannot call them downwind much. GN
