I pretty much took a butt kicking in South Carolina. The birds were extremely henned up and I was unable to harvest a turkey. Although I have never had a hunt with so much actions, especially not to take a bird. I was not disappointed.

The first day I worked a bird off the roost and called in a hen. That evening I had a bird gobble at me 3 times in the last hour to my left. He was closing the distance from 200 yards to about 75 the last time I heard him. I heard a bird fly up so I figured it was him and I had him roosted. I stood up and he was standing 25 yards directly to my right. I spooked worse than he did. :) The next morning in an open swamp I called a bird into about 40 yards and he strutted and drummed with hens directly behind me. I could not turn around because of all the eyes so I had to let him walk. That evening I had one gobbling for about one hour but he got with hens. The next morning I had two hammering and charging in to me through in an open pine plantation. I could see them coming down the row of pines forever then a hen cut them off at 60 yards and drug them into a field where the strutted and gobbled for three hours before a work truck across the road spooked them. That night I called in four hens. From there the weather turned south and my hunt was basically over. It was tough hunting because of the hens, but I had a good time and if I killed one every time it wouldn't be as much fun.
