I just got my NAHC weekley e-news letter and they had a tip about scent killer sprays. I was wondering if any of you use the spray while turkey hunting? I had a turkey hunt ruined one year because of some deer. It was before I had taken a spring gobbler and I was set up on a saddle working a tom. I had him at 60 yards and closing when four deer came busting over the saddle inbetween me and my feathered friend. The deer went one way, he went the opposite way and I pouted Since then I havn't had that problem. Now I don't go all scent crazy like I do for deer hunting or predator hunting but I usally squirt myself a half a dozen times before entering the woods. At least it gives me a ease of mind (until I get busted again ) |

Scott, I nevr thought about using the stuff to keep deer off me...I am not a deer hunter, but I know they have an incredible sense of smell . I have been set-up for turkey s in the spring and had a string of ten deer walk down a 20 foot wioderidge top ridge I was sitting on and walk rightby me at 10 feet without spooking. I could not believe they could not smell me,as I have seen others spook madly at 150 feet if they were staight downwind in other set-ups. the scent blockerstuff may be a good idea,as I had just sort of resigned myself to having to live with spooked deer. They have spoiledmorethan oneset-up for me. |
