I had to go to W-mart to pick up some Pedialyte for the lil' boy(has some sort of stomach virus), and of course I had to stop by the sporting goods section. So, I settled on the Primos Power Cystal with 2 strikers. I roughed it up last night and played with and to my surprise I think it sounds better than the box call I got this past weekend. I also picked up a Quacker Boy beginner 2reed mouth call. It seems a little tough to make quality sounds, but I only tried for about 5 mins. Will the diaphram call sound alot different and any suggestion on the sounding/calling techinques?
Wife has made me promise no more call bought-I have 3 turkey calls and 1 crow and haven't even hunted yet( I am a newbee to T-hunting)

Get a tape and then practice...practice..and then practice more. Master the yelp first.

Get a few videos also. Primos has one (I think it is TRUTH VII) in which a hen leaves a couple of gobblers and comes right up to within 3 yards of the hunters. She yelps, cutts, clucks, and almost everythings else on her way in. It's the best hen talk video sequence I've seen and the audio is good. I watch it ever spring as a way of "tuning up".

Primos also has a cassete tape called Live Turkey Talk which has recordings of real turkeys... after each call there is a pause so you can practice/try to imitate it... nitelite carries it here's a link that I hope will work..

Let your mouth call soak in water for a while it will losen the tape and make the reeds stick less.
When you call try to drop your mouth for the two not kee youk. Pratice pratice practice. Lovet Williams has some good tapes of real wild turkeys also Knight and Hales spitten feathers 1,2,3 are alsoo good.
