If the Game Department passed a new regulation and you could ONLY carry ONE call to the woods, what would you use? I would use my homemade mahogany box call, although I would miss my diaphrams for cackles, and even more my slate for cutting and mid-morning prospecting. Another question. I've dabbled with homemade box calls for a long time now. Have any of you noticed how some box and slate calls hit frequencies that make your eardrums flutter (even when calling soft)? I've noticed that those are the calls the birds go wild over for me -- I seriously think there's a correlation. Call me crazy but anyone else notice this? | ||

first off...if the game department did that we would be having some serious words ;-) Right now I would have to say my H & S Strut Glass call. I have used it more than any of my other calls and have called in birds with it. I am most comfortable with it and have confindence in it. Of course you didn't say anything about strikers... so i would have to go shopping and buy about 20 more of them  | ||

First, I can't go just one call. Two mouth calls (Lohman #836 an #839) and one friction call do 90% of my work. Honorable mention goes to H.S. Strut's split V II. My friction call is a push-pull box made by Super Yelper Turkey Calls out of Stephens City VA. A few years ago I had two gobs hang up like they always do. I let them move off, then hit them with purrs and cutting and they ran back to with 10 yards. Based on that incident and several after that, IF limited to one call it would have to be my Pro Automatic by Super Yelper. | ||

Wow... tough question... I would carry GOBBLENOW! hahaha! No really, I guess it would have to be a Primos Cuttin' Hen mouth call. I would love to say my Primos Power Crystal but I can be a lot more versatile with the mouth call and it's very important to be able to do that close in work... | ||

Sixshot you are right there about that call. It is my favorite friction call, but I would have to take the mouth call if I was only allowed one. | ||

Freddy has gotten a little too carried away here...I am way to big too carry and the results would not be worth the effort. If I had to pick one call, I would just not go. I would be so paranoid about the ones I did not have that I would be highly ineffective on the one I did have . | ||

I use my mouth calls the most because of the versatility, so I would have to say the Lohman #811 Hot n' Single Cutt mouth call would be my choice. It's a high pitched call and I have called in several birds with it. Sure would miss my Knight and Hale Silver Queen though. Kevin | ||

A knight and Hale Old yeller slate and Screamin hen IV mouth call. The new HS tru-tone calls work well for people who have trouble with mouth calls. I have a pittman mouth call that Kee-Kees outstanding I would hate to not use it in the fall. If this happened it would be a nightmare. Glad it is just a thought. | ||
