Well just got my leave approved for 2 weeks in april and 2 weeks in may, gotta burn up some days before i retire from the navy in august. I'm gonna enjoy every minute of this spring turkey season ! This will make up for the ones i missed out on being over seas. Back in '97 i was onboard the Theodore Roosevelt in the persian gulf and on the first day of spring turkey in va. guess what they served for dinner that night on the ship,.. TURKEY!!! I'll never forget that feeling. That cruise me and a buddy must of spent $500.00 ordering calls out of the midwest catalog. Man we drove our division crazy !! I used to hold reveille in the berthing with my gibson crow call, used to drive those city boys mad!

I know there are good Americans all over the world who would sure rather be wit h any of us here in the woods on opening day ,than to be where they are. Thank goodness for you and them for allowing the rest of us to do this.

swampgobbler.... LOL.... that's too funny... 97' was my first spring gobbler out of the navy...two days after getting out i took my first spring gobbler.. I LOVED IT!!! I never tried the crow call in the berthing trick (darn wish i had though :) ) but used to drive some people crazy on the fan tail. My Captain was a big time bow hunter and we would talk for hours about hunting deer and turkey.

When I was in the Coast Guard, my friend use to play turkey calling tapes really loud in the middle of the night to wake everyone one up in the berthing area. I have to tell you it was funnier than heck to hear those city slicker new yorkers cus at us Carolina boys.
