Hey Folks,

Now that the Holidays are over, super bowl and daytona parties are cleaned up, i guess its time to get back in to a workout routine for this coming spring season. Just wondering what are some of the workout programs that everybody uses out there. Mine consists of brisk walks/runs around the lake by my house, riding my mt. bike around the golf course (dodgeing golf balls) and some weight training at the house. I find if i stay with some kind of workout program, i'm alot more comfortable during the hunting season.

Unfortunately, I havn't been doing enough, and at 42 it gets harder and harder to get back in shape.

I 'spect I lose 10 to 15 pounds every turkey season. Last year I gave up beer and coffee for Lent and kept it going throug h the season...I will never do that again. Grouse hunting helps me stay somewhat in shape through February. My wife says she thinks all the exercise just makes me hungrier and therefore I do not get anywhere on "shaping up" as I just eat more. I think the fact that in the March-April-May period I am a lot more active and get a lot less sleep during the spring season is the real reason for the weight loss then. How much do you all lose, if any?

It is kind of funny but it seems like my weight stays around 240. I can work out a lot or diet or eat, and it will fluctuate, but the last few years it has stayed the same. I used to lift quite a bit but have not lately. I try to ride the bike or walk the dog, but my favorite is to get out and scout and maybe hunt some sheds. It is more fun to get the exercise while in the woods, I think you trick your body into the exercise cause it is more like fun than work.

I usually lose several pounds during turkey season. 5-8 I would guess on average. I sleep less and eat less. I'm suprised we don't get sick more often... I stay in decent shape by playing/coaching basketball over the winter.
