If you went it was excellent. This was the biggest turkey show that I have attended. If you missed this one try not to miss the one next year in Nashville. There were rows of calls, camo, guns raffles infomation and just plain fun.

I have to agree with ya turkey 576, hands down best show around!! The grand national calling championship was just awesome!! They had to kick us out of the building sat. night. Good to meet ya freddy, thanks for signing my daughters hat, she's really proud of all the signatures on it. If you couldn't find that special call for your hunt at this show, you'd better sell your guns and take up curling !!!!

Swamp I did not get to meet you I was helping run the Va NWTF booth on Saturday. I also was at the calling contest it was indeed awesome. I used a little tape recorder to record the whole thing. I am gonig to try to put it on a CD as a wav file or put it to a regular tape.

turkey 576, vaturkey

I noticed during the owl hooting contest, most of the callers who used a call had the same looking one. I didn't get a chance to find out what type of call it was, sure sounded good though ! Anybody have an idea who makes those calls ?

how many days til nashville ?? lol

I think some were using a Palmer owl Hooter, by HS Strut. That is what it looked like. They cost around $20.00 for the wood and $14 for the plastic. I have heard that the wood sounds better. Some of the guys were using there voice, way cool and it sounded so real.

Thanks for the info, the wood calls sounded real good. Those boys that use there natural voice really sounded awesome. I tried that once out in the woods and the crows booed me !!!! I think i might heard a hen laughing too !!

The Wild Turkey Bourbon NWTF Grand National Calling Contest Crowns its 2002 Champion Jim Pollard of Corning, NY
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- As 2,000 spectators looked on, the country's most accomplished turkey callers put their clucking skills to the test today at the Wild Turkey Bourbon National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Grand National Calling Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jim Pollard of Corning, New York, walked away with the $5,000 grand prize and the bragging rights to the title of the country's top turkey caller.

``It's been my dream since high school to win this championship,'' said Pollard. ``The competition was stiff but I did my best and I'm just glad that the judges liked my calls.'' The championship is part of the NWTF's annual outdoor convention where approximately 30,000 sportspeople and wild turkey enthusiasts convene to assess the purrs, putts and kee kee runs of the contest's participants.

Wild Turkey Bourbon is proud to sponsor the competition as it celebrates its 26th year as the nation's preeminent calling contest. All contestants have qualified to be in this most competitive calling division by competing in local sanctioned NWTF calling contests. All competitors use box and slate calling devices, as well as mouth diaphragms, tubes and their natural voices to gobble their way to the top spot.

I did it I put the calling contest on a cd. Caller 2 thru caller 15 because caller 1 calls twice I excluded him. If I could get the names of all the callers like number 4 is Shawn Grant etc. that whould be great. Thank you everybody for all your help so far. I need to mention that all of you are a great bunch of guys and gals God bless you all. Jon
