I've seen several posts on other forums in regards to the decoys that are used. Was wondering what all of us VA,TN,SC etc... guys & gals are using.

Sceery Inflatable Flock plus 1

I really like that they will fold up and fit in the space of one foam decoy. Plus you don't get the "crinkle/smoosh" look. I also like the stakes.. they are made of solid hard plastic with a sharp pointed end to go into the ground easier. The stake also has a motion control top which only allows the deke to move up to 90 degrees. Of course being inflatable if your shot goes into it you will need to fix it.. Sceery sends you patches with it incase you do do that. I've also been impressed with the Sceery company. I lost my stake last year somewhere on north mountain, they sent me new one within a week for $2.00

Feather Flex.Although I've added a couple more to my flock, I still use the first one I ever bought about 8 years ago. She is a durable old gal!

Guess it just depends on what works for you. Most all look great and function about the same. I personally like the feather flex. Non glare finish and can withstand alot of abuse. Downside is space required to carry. I am going to try three this year compared to one last year (two to stake out and one for a pillow for when it gets slow.) :)

Don't use decoys Scott. I have occasionally when hunting fields, but I do most of my hunting in the woods in mountain terrain. I try (emphasis here) to set up where they are almost ready to shoot when they come into sight.

Scott,I have used inflateable decoys some in field or flat areas whee i think the bird really needs to see something(beside hearing the call) to come across open ground.. I have had problems with with decoys sometimes. Last year a friend and I had a hen putt and fly from a decoy with the big gobbler just out of range-guess where he went after that...100 mph the wrongway from us. I hunt a lot of steep mountain areas where decoys are not practical nor necessary , if you choose the right place to set up...I like to find a place where the bird has to walk around a corner or over a little edge to see where the calling is coming from and hopefully he will be in range when he takes that peek. Turkey picker must hunt the same kinds of places.Andsometimesif you put a decoy oiut in the mountains you have exposed yourself to a lot of the area that the gobbler can see you in and you may spook hin by just putting out a decoy...this is particualrly true if you get one to answer real close later in the day...I have experienced a lot of two minute turkeys where I barely had time to get the gun up and get on the ground, let alone get a decoy out. I would say less than 10% of the turkeys I have kileld have been taken with theassistance of a decoy..and only a couple of instances where the bird actualy came in and strutted around a decoy. I do carry the inflatables though, not the brand you mentioned though.

I had a Jake step out about 75 yards from a setup containg a jake decoy. He would half strut and apear to mate the ground, but would never come any closer. I think that a let domanate bird may feel that the "jake" is the king bird and not come to the setup, but on the other hand it may make the old boss run to you in fear of losing his ladies. It is a "catch 22" I love using them and watching the different reactions to them. Some hens will cluck and purr at them for several minutes and others will completly ignore them. I say use them if you can and be careful set them where you are out of range from a shot by a shotgun of a RIFLE. That brings up a new can of worms. If you watch the show "Turkey Call" on TNN on Saturady 02/16 they had a guy using a rifle. I suppose they are swaying this way to. Oh well just mouthing have a nice week.

I use a few different Decoys. The Buckwing Jake looks very real, and I hesitate to use it if someone is around because It looks that real. I like the inflatable and feather flex also.

I have a ton of decoys but usually just end up carrying 3 feather flex - 2 hens and a jake. When I'm at the NWTF convention this coming weekend I'm going to look at some more and maybe try some new ones. I usually like to setup so when the bird shows he is in range...

I just use 1 Sceery inflateable jake. Found it on sale at wally world a couple of years back and decided to give it a try. I've had good success with it. Seems to help the birds come in that last 20 or 30 yards so they're in range.

I ues variouse set ups of decoys.Mine are all feather flex ive never had a problem w/ them i store them on a shelf unfolded so they dont crease when they do get damaged i just fill them w. exspanding spray foam and use it as an archery target works great and last a long time even w/ broadheads I do have one Jakster w/ is just a jake fan i love to put it by a hen and a half strutbubba drives dominate birds wild but may .spooke youngerbirds . Iv been leery of inflatables these swamp birds are mean down here in Southampton Cty they whip up on my jakes all the time.I like to keep my decoys close iv leared the hard way if i put them out 20 or more yards my chances of getting an arrow in tha vitals drops dramaticlyout past 20 yds.On my range at home i can nail that stuffed decoy in the head at 35yds but those ole gobblers do something to me that only you guys can understand..LOL JMF
