Gentlemen,
This old Tn.turkey hunter took a little stroll through your trophy room. What great pictures!
It took good hunters and a lot of tom foolery to take such dandy gobblers. From all the smiles, I could see many hunting bonds being made between buddies and relatives, not to mention the everlasting memories. Wish I could have been along on every hunt. This is what turkey hunting is all about.

I agree with you Ken...it is an outstanding trophy room in regards to spring gobblers and there are some very impressive birds in there. It is my impression that there are a lot of really great turkey hunters hanging around this place. If you start looking at the photos you can imagine all the hard work and , frankly, probably the good fortune(plain ol luck) that went in to those pictures.

And I'm glad to see their scales work properly too! The average adult tom is supposed to weigh 18-20 pounds, and these trophies are mostly in that range. Some trophy rooms have a lot of birds in the 24-30 pound range. Makes me alfull suspicious of the scales they use. I have taken several 3year old or older toms and have yet to kill one over 21 pounds. Good job, fellas!

i love the pictures also.... gives me good ideas on how to (hopefully) take better pictures this spring :) as for the weight.. i really worrry about the spring gobblers eating habits ;) i think they should eat more... it's not healthy ;) the gobbler i took last year only had a leaf and a lady bug in his crawl.... if he ate more he could have weighed more...err oopss.. been more healthy :)

As far as the weight scott both of my birds last year were light in weight, but made up for it in beards and spurs. I really think that the spurs and the beard mean more anyway. If you really want to see some good pics go back somewhere in the forum and see the gobblers that we saw hanging around after the picnic last year...NOW THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

Shopson...you are dead on about the weights attributed to dead turkeys . I have seen a prett y fair bunch of dead turkey real close and you will not find many that are over 21 pounds in southern appalachia.. Having said that , if you want to see a very impressive one from our part of the world, check out the pictures attached to Freddy's Spring Diary from last year for the April 9th hunt( click in the bottom right on the Home Page). Now I weighed and measured Freddy's bird too and there are no lies involved in that one... I have seen four birds that were that size or bigger in Southern Apppalachia -I only shot one of them and people sitting next to me shot the other three.

Let me clarify my last sentence of my last post. I do not mean to say that I think there have only been 4 turkeys as big or bigger than Freddy's that have been killed in southern appalachia. I meant to say that in my hunting experiences I personally have only had my hands on four of that size. I have friends who claim to have kille bigger or seen bigger ones but I have not personally seen them.
