I'm reading "In The Turkey Woods" by Jerome Robinson in preparation for my first turkey hunting season. In it he talks about the orange headed saftey decoys. I've looked at cabelas and bassproshops and can't find them. What's the deal???

Scott,
I guess my real question is whether they are worth buying or not. Robinson talks them up in his book pretty well. Yet you dont see them for sale anywhere?

I have had some birds turn and run and fly from decoys that looked just like turkeys(to me anyway)...I cannot imagine what those would have done if they saw an orange headed one...I think if you position your decoys so that you cannot see it from where you are sitting , because you have placed a large tree beween it(them) and you, you will dramatically reduce the chances of getting shot in a cross fire with the deocy(ie,big tree at your back and big tree between you and decoy). 2 cents

I agree with GN.... I went back home and looked at my Wing Supply catalog and they have them at closeout prices...(must be WANTING to get rid of them) I wouldn't want to use one due to the color difference... I LOVE my Scerry's :)
