MAY I HEAR A HEARTY "AMEN" FOR SPRING TO ARRIVE!!
I'm ready to wake up before season to hear the woods rockin'! I'm ready for a gobbler to double and triple gobble and just about choke himself as he struts and and drums. I can see that head just a blazin' and hear the cardinals and birds in the background. Oh yea, I can see me chokin' when it all counts.Hee-Hee!! But, I'm already psyched and chompin' at the bit.

Just blowin' a little steam

It is going to be clear and in the 60's here(and in sw va) this weekend and next week and there will be birds gobbling I am sure. If you can avoid hearing a bird gobble in Jan /Feb it will sure make the time to April pass sooner.

I heard a Gobble last week... it nearly killed me.. It was right at sunrise and I was predator hunting.... doubt if it was a "spring" gobble but it sure sounded GOOD to me :-)

Come on guys it is too early for this stuff. I am like GN, April will get here faster if I TRY to forget about it through February. I had a dream the other night that I was out scouting and heard a gobble, so I guess I will be hittting the woods shortly in search of the first gobble of the year that sends me into the FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
COME ON APRIL.... 11 weeks left

Well guys, that did it. I am going out tomorrow morning and had planned to just do a little scouting but now I will have to take my locater calls and see if I can get one to sound off. If I'm successful, April will take forever to get here.

You guys are going to kill me... I always get the fever about this time of year, talking to people, going to shows, etc.

March 30th cannot get here soon enough... (Opening day in TN)

I get tortured daily. Where I work we see a large flock of turkeys almost daily, hens and jennys, and we see a smaller flock of gobblers and jakes regularly.I have taken a real nice bird there each of the last two years.

Checked out Bedford County yesterday. Took a limit of squirrels, heard 2 "group" gobbles after daylight, and photographed a gang that flew into a field with me. All in all, it was an awesome day!

I try to hold off hearing them untill at least the last week of Feb. The last gobble i heared was on Nov. 19th .the first day of reg. deer season in Southampton Cty.I was in a treestand before first light w/my bow when at daylight the first shotgun blast started this group of no less then six jakes sounding off they continued to gobble steadly for the next half hour. They where about 150yds across the field and i watched them fly down then two huge old Gobblers came out followed by 16 hens. With all the soy beans on the ground in that field i bet most those birds will be there in the spring and yes iam so READY!!!JMF
