Did anyone else hunt these twin WMA's last year? I'm in my 2nd year hunting in VA, and I am too poor for these VA hunting clubs and land leases. As a result I'm systematically hunting the central VA WMA's and would like to share and gain info on as many as possible.
Saw about 30 turkeys this year at Little North Mountain. Only encountered 3 (at the same time) during turkey season, and I was unable to get a shot at them due to range and terrain. I think I'll be using a rifle next year. I drew a bead on several with my muzzleloader during BP deer season just for practice. It was unbelievable how close I stalked to several large flocks during deer seasons by using terrain features. Saw absolutely no deer of course :) The odd thing is that I have an easy time patterning turkeys feeding patterns (grapes and crickets) in the early pre-season, but by the time the actual season rolls around, "POOF!" they disappear to feed on widespread acorns.
