My secong buck was killed on Monday November 17th. I was in a treestand in Botetourt County and a buck followed a doe (I assume) by me in the morning, but it was so foggy I couldn't see a thing. I heard a deer grunting loudly as it came by. I decided to hunt the stand in the evening as it is in a laurel and pine thicket. It is really thick in there. About 4:00 pm I stared hearing deer below me. This buck was folowing a doe and two fawns. He raked a couple of trees with his antlers and was walking stiff legged. I pulled the trigger at 4:15 and really regretted it after shooting. He is a nice deer, but I was looking for a monster. I got caught up in the moment. This really effected the rest of my season as I was not able to hunt for a buck west of the blue ridge. I didn't even get to hunt several of my best stand locations. Oh well maybe next year. Anyway, here he is. |
