Talk about stirring things up !!!!!
I`m sure you will get alot of different opinions on this one so I will go ahead and through my nickels worth in...

I have had several different ATV`s over the years...and have ridden about every brand made. Trail rides used to be a big thing with me and my buddies so I have alot of seat time in on many makes and models.

Hands down I am a Honda man ! Value, dependability, and simplicity have sold me. After owning a Honda just to sit on another brand doesn`t feel right !! :-)
I would definitely go 4x4...will be a little extra but you WILL be glad you did despite what some may say....

Honda Rancher 350 or the Foreman 450 are great bikes. As far as automatic is concerned, call me old fashuioned but I would rather have a manual shift. My father-in-law has a Rancher with the electric shifter and the thing just simply doesnt respond quick enough for my liking ...ofcourse, the PolarA%# !! I mean Polaris is fully auto !!

I could ramble on and on but I will quit here and rest my case !!!

Just a rednecks humble opinion .......

ok enough of the polaris cracks, ive had a four wheeler or three wheeler of one kind or another most of my life.used to race hare scrambels at bodacious years ago.limbhanger is right hondas are great bikes, and so are yamahas,i now own a polaris 325 magnum 4x4.pop for the 4x4 option if you can afford it,ive seen 2x4's not move an inch in deep snow, well worth the extra $.you couldnt give me a kawasaki, ive seen way too much trouble out of them.polaris does have the fully auto trans, some like it others dont.i like mine just fine, no complaints from me on a polaris

I have used a 4 wheeler only to hunt and only where terrain and or time prohibited walking. In my limited opinion 4x4 and 300 to 350cc is enough to get you and sometimes another in or out of about anywhere. I would want the quietest one I could find.

Spend more time walking. It's good for you. Just my opinion.

I run hundreds of mi. a yr. on a honda 300 4x4 97' model with little to no problems period. But would purchase a 450 to 500 forsure when I ware this one out. I plow snow, pull small wagon with firewood,& haul out several deer each yr. a real back saver a winch is a must for getting deer out of a hollow you just need to carry good rope 1/2". But most of all RESPECT,other hunters & private property.

I recently picked up a Yamaha Kodiak 450 and couldn't be happier. It was between the Kodiak, Grizzly, and the Honda Foreman. Go w/ the 4wd, you'll be sorry you didn't if you ever go in serious mud or have to climb steep hills while hunting. One things for sure, you CAN'T go wrong w/ a Yamaha or Honda. Yammi and Hondas are the only quads and dirtbikes I like. They outperform most of the others and the prices are right.

tnx for the input everyone....I looked at some various models last night...the main reason I wnat one is for Dad to use to get around hunting and for me while messing around the 13 acres.

Artic Cat's are not bad either but can be alittle cold natured. I won a Honda Rancher 4x4 (raffle)
with auto shift and rides like a dream. But like a manual shift for easing down out of the mountains in neutral with motor off, which I cannot do with an auto.
