did any of you out there get your huntin license this year off the internet? well i did,and yesterday afternoon i left work early and slipped to the woods for the eavening.well i got a fat ole doe and went to check it,man what a hard time that was.little ole laddy at a little ole country store and i dont think she ever heard of the internet, swore i copied it on a copier, and how stupid i was not to even use the same color paper that the game department uses.she refused to check my deer, but wouldnt call the game warden.so after a 30 minute argument with her she finally told me to leave or she would call him.so i begged her to and refused to leave until she did.i was gonna prove my point and was dertermind she was gonna check that deer.anyway all ended well, the game warden checked it and i didnt even have to use one of my tags.just thout i would share the nightmare with yall

Chuck... that's terrible... I've always got some stange looks when I use tags purchased online in other states. Hate that happened to you...

The GW was probably being nice... they want the does killed... ;o)

Typical Virginia. I don't know if it would work here, but in GA you don't even check deer in. You just fill in the blanks on your license when you kill one. Think of the money they are saving. Some of my most unpleasant hunting memories involve trying to do the right thing and get a deer legally checked. Bagged deer don't always get out of the woods during normal business hours, and if the temp. is hot and you are trying to do the ethical thing and get the deer into a processors cooler, your pleasant hunt can become a pain in the butt.

you know with all the trouble they go through to change laws and such, they would send a memo, flyer or letter to the check stations to alert them of somthing new like this, and maby they do,but this lady didnt have a clue.this was a check station i had never been to before, and she didnt know me, but from now on ill drive the extra few miles to the one i used for the last two years were they know me.all in all its kinda funny now,i know my brother got a good laugh out of it

starting next year, we will have phone in check in along with the normal check in stations. from what i read, VDGIF didn't have the time to get it implemented this year.

Hey chuck, i hear you, checking game is getting tougher with country stores closing and many don't want to fool with checking any more. I always try to buy something and let others go ahead of me when i am try to check game, I ran into the same thing just checking as a land owner. I know what you're saying about going somewhere your known, but you can get a ticket for bypassing the nearest check station so I hope you won't have trouble again. Computers I hate to say have slowed a lot of transactions, I don't see the lines in the grocery store move any faster and if theres a problem forget it ! B. D.
