Guys I would like for you to remember all the folks that are going to be affected by this storm. We are in a very low area but we have family close by to stay with so we should be ok. I will be working at the Hospital for the duration working on phones and assisting with Emergency communications. My pray is that no lives are lost and that damages will be minimal. When you pray, lift up all those who will suffer loss from the storm and its aftermath. After all, we know after all that God is in control!

Amen Ron! Good luck down there and stay safe. I'm on duty now through the night. It's sure going to be a wet one.

I have been here at work at Riverside Hospital since 7:00 AM; it is now 2:20 AM the next morning. I have been the Hospitals Ham Radio operator keeping us connected to the Newport News Emergency Operations Center. It has been a busy, FULL day. I am weary but too tired to sleep. Things quieted down some after the eye passed into VA around Emporia at appx 7:40 PM. We still have the occasional gusts of wind, and a few sprinkles. Presently Dominion Power estimates 5.9 days to restore all the power to this area. Thankfully we have generator power (even if it won't run the chillers). We have trees here at the Hospital with 5' trunks dumped over like twigs. There are trees down, power lines down, and telephone poles down all over down here. In some areas people are having to circumvent the globe to get back to where they live. I haven't heard of any lives lost, nor any major injuries related directly to the storm. God is good, and he answers prayers! Thank you Lord for your mercy!

We have had a pretty calm night here. The winds gusted some up to 39 mph but mostly stayed in the 20 mph range at the strongest point. Some trees down and that's about it.

Hope ya'll get everything going again soon Ron! Take care and be careful!!

This is Monday 7:30 Am and power is still off everywhere. In many areas they don't even have an estimate of when it will be restored. Dominion Power is saying it could take two weeks for some areas. I have seen trucks here from Florida, Louisiana, and Alabama. Trees are down everywhere. I had a few branches come down in may yard, but nothing major. It is all cut up and on the curb already. My neighbor to the left of me had a huge oak fall crushing her shed and smashing the house in back of her. Neighbor across street from me had a pine split, but not before pieces blew int the power lines, and into the feed to my house. A house 3/4 of a mile from me had a huge tree drop right on top of the gable end. It went right into the house at least two thirds of the house was destroyed. It goes on and on. I am close to water, and it came about two feet up into my yard. The farthest I have seen in 21 years here. But, God is good. He protected us from the harm we all could have faced. At the same time He sure let us know that HE IS IN CONTROL!

Good luck to all of you who are in the middle ofthis mess. Nature can lay some pretty ugly stuff on us at times. Be patient. It will be April before long. GN

We were very blessed during this time . My family was spared for the most part. We lost a lot of shingles and two storm doors and a tree out back. Other than that things are good. Just waiting on the Good Hands People now. LQQks like I might need to have my roof reworked. Lost power for two 1/2 days. Thank goodness for that little 1800 horse generator. Saved my food and had the kids some TV rabbit ears and all. Little old school never hurt anyone. Things are slowly getting back to normal and deer season very close so things are good.
