How many people on this sight have actually harvested a turkey with wing bone only calling?

What sub species?

What calls did you make? Yelp, Cluck, etc.

How effective do you think wingbones are against a lot of the modern day turkey calling devices?

I can kee kee and kee kee run on a wingbone, sounds so realistic that sometimes I try to sneak up on myself....he he...just a little kiddin here folks...your thoughts

I wish I could say I have... but I need lots of practice :) I did have one gobbler gobble at me... but all he was doing was telling me to shut the heck up and put that thang away!!

I have actualy. just yelps and cluccks,eastern...bird flew from an adjoinng ridge and landed 20 yds in front ofme just after daylight...I ahve broken two wing bone calls while hunting and now seldom carry one ecxcept in a hardcase and find I do not use one as much as I used to..in the right hands, with the right lips, they are deadly.

Being that I make them I guess I should add to this one. I have been very successful with wingbone's over the years. They seem to work when all others fail. All I do is yelp or cluck with them. They are also great locator calls. They are louder than you think. It adds to the hunt when you call one in with one and think that you used the oldest type of turkey call know to man.

I've never called one in myself with a wing bone.. but I have harvested quite a few birds in my youth called in by my dad and his wing bone.. He is pretty good on one and if we are hunting together and nothing I try works he always uses the wing bone as a last ditch effort.. Like others have said he yelps and clucks.. and even will put with one.. but he too now prefers a diaphram and his lohman pump and the wing bone is a last resort..

I still know one Turkey hunter that is my second cousin my dads age that only uses a wing bone, he says that a diaphram tickles his mouth and he doesn't like them, and he has never used a box call.. he does have a slate, but he takes at least one bird every year and uses his wing bone..
