This is my first turkey season, and I did what everyone says to do and scouted and found a good spot where I heard lots of gobbles from 6:45-7:15am, and then late in the afternoon they started up again. Anyways, my question is after I let out a good cutt, right away i heard a gobble, how can i get that bird to come to me? And what types of strategies can anyone suggest to get these birds into range. (I have yet to even see one, but know they are roosting relatively close). |

well you can call to him in the tree alot... and he will answer most of the time but i don't believe in calling but three or four times to a bird while in the tree. i usually make i fly down call.. and then walk about thirty more yards and then sit down. make one soft call right there and if he gobbles he knows exactly where you are... all you have to do is just sit and listen but be ready... he'll sneak up on you.
the more you call to him and make him gobble the more chance the hens in the area will go to him gobbling... and then your hunt is over. |

Matt, many times you can get a bird to respond to your calling but will not come in for whatever reason. Position is one of the most important things. If you are between where the turkey is is and where he wants to go then you are in a perfect situation. Try to learn what they are doing/where they are going after they come off the roost and that will determine where you can setup and call. Stay after them and one of them won't be able to stand it and will come in! Good Luck! |

I am turkey hunting in an area and there is a gobbler at the end of this place and its surrounded by brush. u can't get in there so is there any way i could get the turkey to come to me? |
