I am getting to the point of "money is no object" when it comes to boots for the turkey woods (and early season bow hunting for deer). This year I thought I bought the perfect pair for me, a set of Lacrosse Spur, snake proof and waterproof boots. They fit great and were comfortable from the start. PROBLEM: they leaked from day one. Turns out they are guaranteed for 1 year against leaking. They are not Gor-Tex, they are Hyper-Dri lined. Whatever that is. They are also made in China. LaCrosse is taking them back for a refund. How about Rocky boots? Russell hand sewn boots? |

I would recomend Rocky or Wolerine gortex. I have both and both seem to be water proof so far. |

I would recommend "Rocky" boots. For me they fit like a pair of althletic shoes and are very reliable for "not leaking." |

I shred boots. Wet boots and greenbriers and other grouse and turkey woods forms of saw blades usually take any pair of boots out in a year or less. Two notable exceptions: Danner has been my favorite for many years, but two years ago a I received a gift of a pair of the LL Bean 10 in gore-tex boots(uninsulated bGore-texSportsamn model)..two years later they are not leaking and intact..only99 bucks too. I have a pair of rocky gore-tex snake boots withthe low heel and non-aggressive trad...I likethem okay in flat land but the yare HOT if you hunti n real ywarm weather. If I am in non-wet confditions, where I know water is not an issue I love my 10 in all leather Orvis -gokey boots. |

I'm looking around for boots too. Have 3 pair of Rockys...Pro hunter uninsulated, pro hunter insulated and Longbeard snake boots. All 3 SQUEAK like crazy when walking on damp or wet grass/leaves....drives me berzerk. on the upside - they do not leak and have held up pretty well over the 3 years i've hunted in them. the longbeard boots are heavy and hot - i haven't worn them the last 2 years of hunting here in SC. I've thought a lot about the LL bean 10 - GN...are they comfortable? the last pair that i had bothered my feet where the leather upper attached to the rubber bottom - have you noticed that in your pair? what about the tread? is it the basic "bean chain" tread? is that good enough to get you around steep country. i have a pair of lacrosse rubber boots too - but man are they hot when the temps get up around 65 and/or if you plan on coveing a lot of ground. Go to Wal-Mart and buy a pair of Herman Survivors with 400 Gram Insulation and you will be set. I have two pair of Rockies that did not last a year. Each pair cost $180.00. I can't wear out these $49.95 Herman Survivors. |

Diablo, tread is low cleated, not the tradtional Bean chainlink. These are not the old rubber bottomed bean boots. It is a boot that realy looks very much like the Browning boots and some of the other offshore made boots. These sportsamn boot are totlaly lioned with a fabric and no abrasion problems. . It is the only pair of goretex boots I have ever had that lasted two years without leaking.I cannot stand insulated boots. |

I can vouch for Diablo's squeaky boots. When I hunt with him and Freddy I have to walk in front because if not I get "squeaked" to death! They both have the Pro-Hunters and usually decide to wear them at the same time and all I hear is.....squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak...squeak....squeak... SW turkey if this is the case Rocky will send you a new pair free. You need to do it before 1 yr tough. I think Rocky boots are great. I have a pair 4 yrs old that Rocky sent me a new sole for free $35 later I had a new pair of boots that still dont leak. Now I admit my prohunters leak but they are 3 yr old and have lots of miles on them. |

I have a pair or lacrosse gamemaster 14" snake boots. They sell for around 180.00 but I searched the internet and found my pair for 89.00. They are the most comforable and water proof boots I have ever owned. I would recomend them to you. They also are snake proof if you hunt in tall grass or in the mountains where snakes live. |

ROCKY BOOTS ARE THE WORST BOOTS I HAVE EVER OWNED. I HAVE NO ANKLE SUPPORT, SLIPPERY SOLES, HAVE FELL MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES IN THEM. NEVER HAVE A FELL IN A PAIR OF BOOTS THAT MANY TIMES. NO, I AM NOT A CLUTZ! ROCKY IS OVER RATED AND A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON A TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR PAIR OF BOOTS IS NUTS!!! DANNER AND BROWNING ARE GOOD. NO OFFENSE, JUST CHATTING. |

I also am with gn. bought a pair of Danners from Cabelas in '99. Still water tight. They lace farther down the toe that most boots which I like because that is where most boots loosen-up on me. After many, many miles they still look good. $175 at the time. I owned my one and only pair of Rockys before that, never again! |

Before going to Texas this past April, I picked up a pair of Cabela's "Quest" snake boots. These are the knee high Cordura boots with the "Gore-Tex" lining/bootie to guatantee them to be waterproof. Cabela's also rates these snakes boots very well!! One thing I noticed right off, they are very light on your feet and feel like wearing slippers!! Cost $129.99 and they come in brown or realtree camo. I give them a thumbs up!! |
