I was wondering if anyone else has an Opening Day Tradition? My buddy and I always have breakfast at his house. My wife fixes us breakfast and has to make homemade biscuits! We do this even though we don't usually hunt together on opening day. Do any of you guys do anything like that? Just curious...

The opening day tradition I enjoy is meeting with fellow turkey hunters and discussing the day's adventure. I like listening to and telling stories. Since moving from Pennsylvania in '98 it has been a chore continuing that tradition, but the thing about turkey hunters is their dogged determination and patience. There is another thing I do...without fail and that is the night before opening day I purchase a special bottle to celebrate with at day's end. It is the same flavor every year, and it resides at my home until I get there. That bottle may have to wait until the end of the season, but it does get tended to.

I made it a family event. My Dad, brothers, Kids, and a couple friends Go to Camping the first or second every year.

I enjoy the fellowship more than the hunting. You know, The worst feeling in the world is to an alsome hunt and have no one there to experience it with you, or no one to tell later.

And all of the stories I am told are true too no exaggerations either. (wink)

freddy me and 2 buddies go camping the day before...we try and roost a few birds then head back to camp for the real fun (bull session) that last till the early morning hours....i think to us and most turkey hunters we have just as much fun getting ready to hunt as the hunt itself.....

nothing better than opening day...my season in Tenn usually opens on the same ridge, scouted or unscouted, as it has been very good to me. I end up the evening of opening day involved in "turkey central" as my wife and other spouses have come to call it..a lot of phone calls and retold stories...hopefully will have some to tell after tenn opens this saturday.

I walk out to my ridge and find a bird to hunt. That is what i have been doing every opening day. Never get one the 1st day though. But I am only 16.

Opening day is always special. I always like to get out a little earlier, so I can enjoy the first sights and sounds. I always like to thank God for the chance to hunt, the turkey and thank him for his wonderful creation, and the splendor of spring.
